Urban Film Series: Civil Rights Panel, Regal Cinema Gallery Place, Washington, DC
Michael Lydon will speak on a Civil Rights Stories Panel at Washington's Urban Film Series, Saturday February 10, 3:30 pm at the Regal Cinema Gallery Place, 707 7th Street NW (Metro: Gallery Place-Chinatown).
Other panelists will be a Tuskegee Airman, a white SNCC volunteer, and a Black Panther.
Lydon will focus on the Mississippi Freedom Summer of 1964 that he covered for the Boston Globe--the murders of Goodman, Chaney, and Schwerner in Philadelphia, voter registration in Greenwood, and firebombings in McComb.
The Urban Film Series is a four-day multimedia event with guests including filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles, actress Yvette Freeman, and jazz musician Roy Ayers.
