“When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained." from Twain's notebooks, 1898.
To celebrate Mark Twain's 180th birthday, Michael Lydon will host a lively evening of his writings, drawn from his novels, memoirs, essays, tall tales, and diatribes, read by Dee Nelson, Frank Ridley, and Kim Sykes, with Ellen Mandel playing piano music of Twain's era.
"Mark Twain is much more than the creator of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn," says Lydon, "more even than America's greatest humorist. He is a philosopher, a political essayist, an animal lover, and his rough-and-ready love of life glows in very sentence he ever wrote."
