For the twentieth straight year Ellen Mandel and Michael Lydon, with Art Baron, trombone, will play for the lighting of the Tompkins Square Park Christmas Tree lighting, at 4 pm Sunday afternoon December 10. with a Dickensian choir from the Theater of the New City singing carols veryone knows and loves. "This may be our favorite performance of the whole year," says Ellen, and Michael agrees: "The whole East Village, kids, old folks, young couples, families comes out to sing the Christmas music, sip the hot chocolate, and sing the joy of the season."
